Academic Awards

Lloyd Junor's academic qualifications include degrees in Arts and in Education, a Masters degree in Science, and a multi-disciplinary PhD. Lloyd's list of publications includes self-instructional audiovisual programs on equipment operation, video productions, refereed journal articles, several books - including one award of "Best Maps Book, Asia & South Pacific Region", commissioned reports, as well as acting as a free-lance writer of pieces published in newspapers and popular periodicals.

Authored Courses of Study

He has written a number of courses of study for universities in Australia and United States. His development of an industry-based program in architecture and building management in 1994-95 won the Australian Award for Excellence in Leadership in Innovation and Education.

An Interesting Background

His extensive experience began in industry as an electrician/electronics serviceman from which he moved into teaching in primary, secondary, technical and special education settings. He has been involved in adult education for the Council of Adult Education (Victoria).

Involvement

Lloyd has served as academic advisor to the Pro-vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Business & Economics of Monash University in tourism education. Immediately prior to this for just over two years he was a senior consultant instructional designer, author and editor with Deakin Australia, the commercial arm of Deakin University on projects covering corporate planning, law, management, government training and technology training.

Local and Overseas Positions

During 1995 Lloyd acted as Projects Manager of Graduate Programs, School of Architecture & Building, Faculty of Science and Technology, Deakin University, Geelong. Prior to his appointment at Deakin, Lloyd was an academic staff member of the University of Melbourne for over 20 years, specialising in media and instructional technology. For a number of years he was responsible for teaching and administration of the graduate research program in the School of Information Studies and Librarianship. In 1975-76 Lloyd accepted an invitation to teach several university programs in USA. He has been the recipient of international travel fellowships from the Potter Foundation and the Sidney Myer Foundation, and a community service award from the City of Croydon.

Literary Pursuits

Lloyd has an active publications record in books, refereed academic journals, popular news stand publications, trade literature, audiovisual media, audio productions and video productions, and is a widely experienced course designer and editor in fields as wide ranging as law, statistics, tourism, steel production, the construction industry, business management, special education, insurance and librarianship.

Multi Media and the Outback

In a private capacity Lloyd has been a director of a radio station. Posts have included work as a consultant to the Victorian Government, the Braille and Talking Book Library, Deakin University, Monash University, a New Zealand University, numerous radio and television stations around Australia, market research organisations, eco-tourism groups, and the Australian Insurance Institute. He is actively involved in the tourism industry as the proprietor of Aussie Outback Escorted Tours, a business which conducts supported tours across mainland states of Australia. This business focuses on ecological, conservation, historical and Australiana themes. He is the owner of an Internet site which hosts a wide range of tourism, travel, leisure and associated products and interests, and is Managing Director of Aussie Outback Publishing Pty Ltd.
