Lloyd was commissioned by Penguin Books Australia to prepare the Introduction to Outback Travel section of the reference work Explore Australia by 4 Wheel Drive, and the Introduction to Four-Wheel Drive Travel section of The Australian 4WD Companion.

An active environmentalist, he has been a consultant to 4WD movement in Victoria, and made a series of submissions on the use of public land for recreational purposes.  Assistant Guides

All tour guides are personally selected: all have been known to and observed by the company for many years before being approached to act as guides.

Every tour has at least one guide with First Aid certification, considerable (15 years minimum) Outback experience, cooking ability, mechanical ability, ability to handle high levels of stress, and excellent person to person skills.

Some of our helpers over the years

Brenda Junor

The other part of the Junor couple – the one who pulls the strings behind the scenes. Brenda has accompanied Lloyd for decades on his rambles through the countryside. Originally a city gal, she has turned her back on that lifestyle and would now much rather be beside a campfire in the quiet or streamside with a few friends.

Garth Junor

Garth Junor

Garth's a birdo (translation = enthusiast on birds) and knowledgeable about wild life in general. With a university major in geography studies he can explain the countryside we are travelling through. You’ll often hear crows in the Outback calling for him – “Gaaaaaar(th), Gaaaaaaaaaar…”

Ian Pearce

Ian is a former forestry officer with a University degree. He has had extensive Outback and off road travel experience. Likes a slab of steak, is a competent cook, and like the rest of the crew has all the qualifications needed to look after you away from the city lights.

Russell Seebach

Russell Seebach

Russell has been wandering the Outback in all sorts of vehicles for the last 30 or so years (maybe longer, but he will not admit it). Fond of the occasional practical joke, you realize he has a strong bush background when you see him sleeping in a hollow log or hauling a bogged tractor out by hand! A keen caravanner, you will enjoy his company on many trips.

Bill Dubbeld

I heard someone say that Bill was born under a car, and that's where he feels at home. Sometimes Bill takes time away from his own busy workshop to explore the open spaces with us. He has a keen interest in gardening and self-sufficient lifestyle. If you look at his thumbs - they're both green!

Geoff Horman

Geoff Horman

A mallee boy with a big heart from a big broadacre farming operation, Geoff is a whiz at fixing things mechanical. He loves ‘trendy’ caps and is quite capable of enjoying life to the full.

Cliff & Kathryn Penniceard

This father and daughter team are equally at home in an academic university setting or on the farm. Both are cattle breeding farmers in Victoria with loads of rural skills. A clergyman to boot, Cliff's services for weddings, deaths or baptisms have never been utilised on a trip!

Peter Mudge

Peter is actually an old salt who found his land legs late in life and has since made up for lost time wandering the wide brown yonders with Annette in search of the great inland sea – or something like that. An engineer by trade and a free spirit by nature, Pete has salt water in his veins.

Alan Kendall

When not out roaming the bush or adding to his 4WD collection this chap splits his time between running a very busy factory and volunteering in emergency services. With a background in caravan repairing and fitting towbars to anything with wheels, a prankster at heart he’s just the chap to have on a tour.

Ron Ireland.

He's the boy in blue in this picture (always in blue actually), Ron enjoys campfire cooking and loves bush poetry of the Banjo Paterson variety - he can rattle off a few of those poems backwards. Ron's been a keen 4WD person for ages, Scoutmaster and teacher of Australian plant and creatures in his spare time. Another gardener.

Lloyd & Ron Ireland

The specialist skills of our helpers are extraordinary and include: University level forestry and botany specialist; trade certification as mechanics, welders, electricians, etc.; registered caravan builder; philosophers; radio technician; Australian history and literature enthusiast; qualified 4WD Instructors; military vehicles operation; many forms of farming; wildlife enthusiast; clergyman.
