to hole up on a cattle station for 4 days

It’s a matter of fact: the ground clearances of vehicles vary |

Kids and parents can travel together: a cheap way of providing separate
accommodation is van plus tent(s)

Goes to show that even the best trail bikes can become hopelessly
bogged. Do NOT travel alone!

Rest stops can be found in lots of places along Outback tracks

The occasional wrecked vehicle, sometimes burnt out like this Toyota, is a reminder that travelling solo in remote areas is quite unwise.
